Heads and senior managers

During the period of planning, piloting and introduction of Diplomas the senior managers of schools will need to continue to manage the process of change with skill and commitment. Organisations will need to adapt to new areas of learning that they have not previously delivered. There may be new buildings and equipment required, and there will be staff development needs to be addressed as new areas of learning open up. Robust links with local employers of public services will be essential.

Work experience

All levels will involve work related learning and close links with careers staff and local providers of public services will be crucial. Employers and work placement agencies are involved in the development of the Diploma in Public Services to help ensure this area will be relevant and appropriate.

Youth Service and Careers Services

The involvement of the Youth Service and the Careers Service will be vital in ensuring learners have systems of information, advice and guidance. If learners can obtain the best possible impartial advice about career choices and the range of Diplomas open to them then we hope that their interest will be ignited towards Public Services, an area they may not know can offer so much.
