Traditional links with schools will need to be maintained so that the marketing for all the new Diplomas recruitment areas can be sustained and improved. It has been suggested that colleges, as part of a consortium, planning to offer the new Diploma in Public Services will need to promote the course and run 'taster' modules as learners make decisions about their futures.

Employer engagement will be crucial and contacts with all the local public services will need to be made at an early stage to ensure that work related learning opportunities are put in place.

Colleges, and in particular the curriculum managers for the main areas of the curriculum, will be aware of the providers of advanced courses at HE institutions to whom successful learners are able to apply for places. Colleges introducing the Diploma in Public Services as a new area of study will need to identify such courses and explore which specific areas of HE study the Diploma may be able to lead on to.
